Uh oh!

March 8th

Third day of cruise PV

Days to NYC: 78

Breakfast:
3 egg whites with 1/2 egg yolk and 2 slices of deli turkey (turkey omelette)
1 fat free no sugar added strawberry yogurt and 1 fat free fromage frais

Lunch:
1/2 cup marinated turkey thigh
1/4 c fat free Ricotta cheese
1 fat free no sugar added plain yogurt

Snack:
1 piece of Moroccan cornbread
2 spoons of cake batter
1/4 c cherry tomatoes
5 pickles

Dinner:
1/2 cup marinated turkey thigh with 1/4 c fat free Ricotta cheese
2 fat free no sugar added plain yogurts


Sometimes I just don't think about what I'm doing and before I know it, I have downed 2 spoonfuls of cake batter. Then, since I was already feeling guilty, I ate some Moroccan cornbread which was oh so good, but completely unnecessary and un helpful considering the goal of theis blog and my diet. Hopefully, these won't count too big in the long run since today was already a PV day (not that cake batter is at all a veggie, but just that today was meant to be more carby anyway.) NYC is approaching fast and my trip to Paris is even closer - just a little more than a month away. I need to stick to it!!!

Goals Discussion

March 7th

Here I wanted to put some goals because what is a mission if there is no goal?!
I'm going to put goals as weights and not as dates because I can't force my body into a timetable...

86 kg (189.6 lbs) = no longer obese (something I have been since I was a child) - just OVERWEIGHT. This is probably my most important goal, but hopefully it will fly by quickly.
80 kg (176.4 lbs) = halfway to the normal weight range
72 kg (158.7 lbs) = just barely in the NORMAL weight range...I have never been a "normal" weight, but we will have to see what that means on my body.
?? kg (???.? lbs) = overall goal TBD because these are kinds of numbers I've never dealt with, so we will see how I look and feel. I don't want to be ultra-skinny or feel really tired. I just want to be the healthiest, happiest, loveliest me I can be. :)

I think I need to watch out for my dairy intake as it is ALL I want to eat for now, but hopefully it will make no big impact by the end of the month.

Breakfast:

1 c spinach
1/2 small tomato
1 fat free no sugar added plain yougurt and 1 fat free fromage frais

Lunch:
1/2 cup marinated turkey thigh
1 fat free no sugar added plain yougurt and 1 fat free fromage frais

Dinner:
3/4 c hamburger
1 c spinach
1 c green beans
1/2 small tomato


I broke and had to weigh in after my five days of attack. The results are: 2.5 kg down! YAY! On the downside, I think the change in diet really screwed up my m
enstrual schedule because for some reason, TOM decided to come today (a week and a half early). This may have some impact on the scales but it's okay - I know I'm going in the right direction.

On another note, I have decided to do my PV(Protein and Vegetable days) and PP(Pure Protein days) in a 1/1 pattern. Last time I did Dukan, I did 5/5. This was obviously successful, but I am going to see how 1/1 goes - I think it will be easier. I will weigh in next Sunday to see if the scale moves with this pattern.

I went running on Saturday, like I have been for the last 3 weeks and it's
really amazing how much improvement there has been in such a short time. One of my lifetime goals has always been to LIKE running. And I think I do! I'm still not any good at it. I get tired quickly. I stop when I get a side stitch. But, I'm doing it. I want to try to up it to 2x per week, so we'll see if I have a late start this week. I'm so very excited about the future. AND I got some hot new boots today for way cheap. I think I might go back to get some black ones :)

March 3rd

Third day of 5 of attack phase.

Days to NYC: 82

Breakfast:
3 egg whites with 1/2 egg yolk and 2 slices of deli turkey (turkey omelette)
1 fat free no sugar added plain yougurt

Lunch:
1 cup marinated turkey thigh
1/4 cup fat free ricotta

Snack:
1 fromage frais
1 yogurt
1 lick of a cake batter spoon :(

Dinner:
3 egg whites and 1/2 egg yolk
1/4 c fat free ricotta
4 slices deli turkey

We didn't end up going to Marrakech, so I will have no excuses to cheat. I almost had a huge slip-up today with some cake batter, but I reminded myself immediately what I am aiming for. I walked between work and home 2 times today - about a total of 30 minutes - but nothing else special. I would like to get more movement in, so hopefully I will go running (and by running I mean walking) this weekend.
March 2nd

Second day of 5 of attack phase.

I'm going to add a little countdown here of when we leave for the US-just to keep me motivated.

Days to NYC: 83

Breakfast:
3 egg whites with 1/2 egg yolk and 2 slices of deli turkey (turkey omelette)
1 fat free no sugar added plain yougurt

Lunch:
1 cup marinated turkey thigh
1/4 cup fat free ricotta

Snack:
1 fromage frais
1 yogurt

Dinner:
1.5 cups of ground beef
2 egg whites and 1/2 egg yolk
1/4 c fat free ricotta

Today went very well. Second day down and who knows how many to go but I really feel like I'm back to where I was in September (when I went to Paris and did not indulge in even one croissant or glass of wine). I walked quite a bit as I went with Badr to the supermarket down the road and stopped at every pharmacy on the way searching for oat bran since my normal pharmacy was out of stock. It was a good hour and a half of walking/standing, so I feel like I got the adequate amount of exercise for the day. I hope Marrakech is a no-go because I always feel bad about rejecting a beautiful tajine because of my diet needs.

March Dukan Challenge

March 1st

First day of 5 of attack phase.

Weigh-in: 91 kg (200.62 lbs)

Breakfast:
3 egg whites with 1/2 egg yolk and 2 slices of deli turkey (turkey omelette)
1 fat free no sugar added plain yougurt with sweet n low

Lunch:
1 cup marinated turkey thigh
1/4 cup fat free ricotta

Snack:
1 fromage frais
1 yogurt

Dinner:
turkey omelette with 1/4 cup fat free ricotta

I definitely drank quite a bit of water, but I will try for more since I am an overacheiver.

Last month was the February Dukan Challenge on one Dukan blog. I got really excited and decided to participate and then I ate pizza and ice cream and cakes and well, let's just say I wasn't into the challenge. Yesterday, I started my own March Dukan challenge, which means weighing on the first and not again until the first of April. I will try not to weigh in between, but we will see how that goes. The first day is always easy it's days 3 and four that become more difficult, especially since I may be going to Marrakech this weekend.

Here is a photo of my progress so far, but this is a new, clean start to finish off my weight loss :)
